Lots to be thankful for this week including …
a newly minted three-and-a-half-year-old, who is more amazing, hilarious, and interesting with each passing day; a weekend of tears, laughs and reconnection with my extended family; a short spate of glorious weather; the intense beauty of leafless trees against Vancouver’s dense fog; a pile of paid work that recently came my way; a raucous multi-adoptive family Indian dinner party in the hood; tree swings hung for the pleasure of small passersby; juicy meatballs on a stick at the winter farmer’s market, and noticeably longer days! Hoorah!
What are feeling thankful for lately?

OH those noticeably longer days are up there on my gratitude list right now too!
Thursday night, I didn’t sleep at all, so Friday morning, I went to start the car to get it warm to drive my husband to the train (it was minus a pajillion for the millionth day in a row) and my car didn’t start. So that sucked. And I ran into the house to tell him and in the process, crunched my hand in the front door. Because of the cold, I slammed that door especially hard, so it was especially crunched. After I wept in pain and ordered my husbee around (he doesn’t know first aid and I do), he got ready for work, where he would be fired mid-morning after rejecting their “reduce your pay and hours or we’ll have no choice” ultimatum. Before he left, he sat on the bed beside me as I iced my hand, which we determined to have no broken bones, and he said, “You know what? All we need is us and the doggies-” and I interrupted, “And kitty?” “And kitty,” he replied. “We’re everything and we’re ok, so everything is ok.”
I suppose I should have just replied, “I’m grateful for my husband,” instead of leaving a long miserable story but that would have been too vague.
silver linings and so on don’t really cut it … oh bummer! i hope everything works out for you and yours
loving the longer days – ah daylight
I am loving the longer days. And, also, hot tea and two children who are totally hilarious.
