I’m a blogger, writer and communications specialist. This blog is my space to muse and explore the intricacies of our open adoption and life as a mixed race family. Harriet,
Who knew that Journalism school was merely a requisite stepping stone paving entrance to the blog-o-shpere.
Your subject matter is not only captivating, but necessary.
Maybe one day I’ll actually meet the subject.
Love to Mark and Theo,

Hi Harriet,
Just read your most recent post. Wow. Do you have a specific post detailing the beginning of your journey or decision to go with Open Adoption! Please link me!
Thank you thank you thank you….
Hi there,
I was forwarded your blog by a reporter friend of mine and I wanted to say “hello”! I’m adopting from Lesotho, my dossier is being sent early May, so I will be getting a lot of the same comments and questions that you’ve written about (I’m a red headed Irish girl:) It’s great to read of your experiences so far, thanks for sharing! Oh and I also live in east Van so we will probably be bumping into each other at the Cedar Cottage coffee shop if all goes well and I’m home with my little man/lady but the end of this year! I’ve learned during the 1 1/2 years that I’ve already been waiting to meet my kid (last program closed mid-way through the process…sigh…) that I can ALWAYS have a great chat with other parents that have already or are going through the process…It’s kind of unbelievable this adoption journey!
Thanks again for putting your info and opinions out there, it really is helpful to see how others handle things:) All the best, Katharine
I read your post in Focus on Adoption – and if you ever have time to get together with another adoptive mum, or point me in the right direction – please email me: deathstar44@gmail.com http://www.awomanmyage.wordpress.com
Harriet — it’s been years since our SNAP/AFA collaboration. So glad to have stumbled upon your blog – our writing paths cross yet again, this time as moms writing about parenthood. Congrats on your lovely family. So cool to see you not only writing about adoption, but living it.
I love that picture of you guys! Adorable. I want to read your full adoption journey as well. Is it posted here?
I bought the ‘Hipstamatic’ because of you kids. You may want to consider tilt shift camera..
Hi Harriet!
I just stumbled upon your blog via MamaC, which I just stumbled upon yesterday via Love isn’t Enough . . . we seem to have a lot in common! I too have an open transracial adoption, and my son is named Theo as well! Theo, me and my husband Jeff live in Oakland CA. I love reading your blog and finding SO MANY commonalities in our worlds . . . I have a blog too, called A is for Adoption! Check it out, and let’s be friends, OK?

I believe that the necessary element for a great web site or blog is to really have the fervour in your subject matter or product. When the eagerness is there, it simply “flows” into every thing you write. Attempt to put ardour before money with your blog, and see what occurs! All people get’s so wrapped up with earning money, and while that does have it’s place in this capitalist society, your weblog will actually stand out as something particular, whether it is content material pushed! ! !
Let me congratulate on your wonderful family Harriet. Multicultural families make the world so much for exciting and fun
I would also like to say how wonderful you are for choosing open adoption. I’m sure that it must be emotionally challenging at times. We have moms in our free online support community who go through similar experiences. If you wish to connect with them and exchange your thoughts on open adoption, feel more than welcome to visit http://www.flowerpowermom.com.
I wish you all the best in life!
